Systems Overview

Network Backbone - The City of Searcy has a state-of-the-art computer network featuring fiber connections to all city department buildings. Redundant above head and underground fiber has been installed in almost every city operated building. The City utilizes Cisco Systems as the preferred brand of communications equipment for our network infrastructure.

Network Operations Center (NOC) - The NOC at the City of Searcy has 24 hour protected access, remote environmental monitoring / paging as well as an offsite backup that is Fiber connected.. The NOC utilizes a natural gas/propane powered Generac Emergency generator to supply ample power in the case of a power outage. The room utilizes redundant cooling systems to ensure all critical equipment maintains proper operating temperatures.

Server Farm - The IT Department is continually working to improve and enhance the technologies being used to provide services to each city department. Windows, Linux, Hyper-V, ESX, and Cisco IOS are in use at the data center. The server farm is complemented with 6 Storage array totaling 210 Terabites of storage, with fully automated daily backups.

Desktop Environment - City desktops are equipped with the latest Windows Professional Operating Systems, Microsoft Office Professional, specialized task enterprise software, and constantly updated security and virus protection as well as remote monitoring and assistance capabilities.

Voice over IP Telephony - The City of Searcy runs a Cisco Enterprise IP Telephony system to provide over 150 desktop telephones, voicemail, and unified messaging to all city users while reducing telephone expenditures by half of the previous requirement.

Computer Training - City employees now have access to customized computer classes. Currently the IT Department holds classes as needed for MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, and Basic Computing. The mobile training environment can also be configured for training / software demonstrations on any of the software applications used throughout the various departments.
