SREDC, Searcy Regional Chamber and City of Searcy Launch Economic Development Planning
Collaboration among the Searcy Regional Economic Development Council (SREDC), Searcy Regional Chamber of Commerce and the City of Searcy is underway to conduct economic development strategic planning for Searcy.
With a focus on enhancing the local economy, creating job opportunities, and improving the quality of life for residents, the economic development planning process aims to identify and capitalize on the unique strengths and assets of the Searcy community and region. The planning efforts will involve comprehensive research, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement to develop strategies and action plans that will guide economic growth and development in the community.
"We are thrilled to embark on this important economic development planning process," said Adam Hart, Chairman of the SREDC. "Our community has tremendous potential, and this initiative will allow us to harness our strengths, identify opportunities, and overcome challenges to create a more vibrant and sustainable local economy."
The economic development planning process will encompass a wide range of areas, including business retention and expansion, workforce development, and education. It will also involve engaging with local businesses, residents, and community organizations through surveys to gather input and feedback to ensure that the planning efforts are inclusive and representative of the diverse needs and aspirations of the community.
"We believe that economic development planning is a collaborative process that requires the input and involvement of all stakeholders," Hart said. "We encourage all members of the community to participate and contribute their ideas and insights as we work together to shape the future of our local economy."
The City of Searcy is also currently undergoing master planning for Parks, Infrastructure and Active Transportation.
“We’re excited that we’re able to do all of this planning at the same time and with groups who want to collaborate to make Searcy better,” Mayor Mat Faulkner said. “We know that we have to have a community where employees want to live in order to attract new businesses, and through our planning efforts we are going to do just that.”
The SREDC has engaged the support of Boyette Strategic Advisors to lead the economic development planning, and Crafton Tull is leading the Parks, Infrastructure and Active Transportation efforts. Both firms have extensive experience working with communities in Arkansas and across the country.
The economic development planning process is expected to be complete in the fall and will result in a comprehensive economic development plan that will serve as a guiding document for the community's economic development efforts. The plan will outline specific strategies, goals, and action items that will be implemented in the coming years to drive economic growth and job opportunities in the community.
