Special Olympics
The Searcy Police Department holds several fundraisers throughout the year to benefit the Special Olympics of Arkansas. The state’s Special Olympics games have been hosted right here in Searcy by Harding University for the past few years, and the Searcy Police Department has taken pride in being the top regional fundraising agency for Special Olympics. The Searcy Police Department’s biggest fundraiser of the year is “COPS ON TOP” where officers literally sit atop the local Wal-Mart Supercenter with bullhorns, encouraging shoppers to place their donations in buckets that are then pulled up to the roof. This year, Spiderman made a ‘live visit’ and kids got to have their picture taken with Spidey for a $5 donation to Special Olympics. Searcy officers also participate in the touch run and opening ceremonies at Harding University.
