Lunch with 3rd Graders

The Patrol Division’s day shift goes to each local elementary school once per week and eats lunch with the second graders. Each school’s 3rd grade teachers select the two students that will receive the honor of sitting next to the officer at lunch, usually based on especially good conduct and citizenship. This program provides the children with the opportunity to speak with an officer in a positive atmosphere, letting them know that the officers are here to protect them and are their friends. The “lunch with 3rd graders” forms part of the Searcy Police Department’s “Community Oriented Policing” strategy.
