“BE A WINNER” Program

The “Be a Winner” program is a ten week series of classes taught in the classrooms of 6th grade students at Southwest Middle School in Searcy. “Be a Winner” is taught by uniformed, certified Searcy Police Department Law Enforcement Officers working as School Resource Officers in the Searcy Public School District. “Be a Winner” is designed to teach good decision-making skills and provide solid information about drugs and violence.

School Resource Officers (SRO’s) talk about the realities of why students become involved, and the consequences of that choice. “Be a Winner” students demonstrate recognition of peer pressure and better skills in dealing with it.  Students are encouraged to strengthen family relationships and seek out solid friendships with other students who choose not to use. Officers discuss the importance of being involved in activities that provide fun, excitement and challenges.

The “Be a Winner” program is but one of the vital elements in the drug and violence prevention networks in our community. The School Resource Officers of the Searcy Police Department challenge each of you to become more involved in your community.
