Anne Owens |
My name is Anne Owens and I am 35 years old. I was born and raised in Doniphan, MO, but graduated high school in Mammoth Spring, AR in 1987. I moved to Searcy with my husband and children in 1993. In September of 1993, I began attending the Searcy Beauty College and graduated there in July of 1994. I worked in a salon in Searcy for about 7 months, and then opened my own salon in August of 1995. I owned and operated my own business for 6 years, closing the doors in September 2001. I began working for the Searcy Police Department in December 2001 as a part-time Parking Enforcement Officer. In April 2002, I was given the opportunity to work full-time as a dispatcher at the Searcy Police Department Dispatch Center. I transferred to the Patrol Division of Searcy P.D. in December 2002, and left to attend the Law Enforcement Training Academy (L.E.T.A.) in Pocahontas, AR in January 2003. |

Upon graduation from the academy in April 2003, I worked 17 months as a Patrol Officer, and then transferred to the Crimes Against Women Unit as a Detective of the Searcy Police Department. In this unit, my partner and I work Domestic Violence, Terroristic Threatening, and Harassment cases. While working in this unit, I have been given the opportunity for specialized training in Rural Sexual Assault Investigation and Latent Prints. I get asked frequently how a hair stylist becomes a Police Officer. As odd as it seems, I have wanted to be a Police Officer since I was very young, but chose to have a different career while my children were young. I appreciate the opportunities that the Searcy Police Department has given me, especially working in the Crimes Against Women Unit, which is near and dear to my heart. |
