Cheif J.R. Thomas |
My name is J.R. Thomas . I am proud to have served with the Searcy Police Department for the past 27 years. I grew up right here in Searcy where I attended Harding Academy and Searcy High School before attending Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. In 1988, I graduated from the FBI National Academy. I was appointed as the Chief of Police of the Searcy Police Department in 1989. During my tenure, some of the most important achievements have been spearheading the implementation of new technology that improved tracking which caused restructuring processes in the operation information systems for state and local government. As a Paul Harris Fellow and a person who is involved in my community: from Church to acting in the local dinner theater to past President of the Searcy Rotary Club, I thoroughly enjoy living and working in Searcy. |

I have served on numerous boards, commissions, task forces and councils affecting federal, state, and local policy and grants involving: technology, substance abuse, interoperable communications, wireless solutions, mobile data computers, and record management systems.
